Review Process

The review process for all articles submitted to A|Z ITU Journal of the Faculty of Architecture comprises three stages: Submission, Review, and Copyediting.

SUBMISSION: Following the initial submission by the author(s), the Secretariat team checks the articles for required statements, plagiarism, and format compliance. The author(s) may be contacted for additional information or files as well as corrections. Once these are completed, the editors check the article's compliance with A|Z ITU Journal of the Faculty of Architecture's aims and scope. If appropriate, the article progresses to the Review stage. If not, revisions may be requested and/or a "Desk Rejection" decision may be delivered.

Minimum duration of the submission stage is seven (7) days.

REVIEW: 2 or 3 reviewers are assigned to assess the article through a double-blind process. New reviewers may be assigned based on the response or availability of the first round of reviewers. The duration of this stage can vary depending on the reviewers' availability. Reviews can consists of multiple rounds of revisions requested from the authors. At the end of each round, reviewers are expected to provide a recommendation for the editor (Accept Submission/Revisions Required/Resubmit for Review/Rejection/Submit Elsewhere). Based on these recommendations, the editorial team delivers a final decision to accept or reject the submitted article. Accepted articles progress to the Copyediting stage.

Minimum duration of the review stage is fourteen (14) days.

COPYEDITING: Following final format and plagiarism checks, the article is sent to the production team for typesetting. Typeset articles are sent the corresponding authors for proofreading and prepared to be published either as an Online First article, or as part of the following issue. Articles are queued for publication based on their acceptance dates.

Minimum duration of the copyediting stage is fourteen (14) days.
