In the age of information, technological innovations have been searched to meet organizational needs and changing business relationships. In a dynamic, global business environment, technological innovation is highly important for competitive success. The competitive importance of technological innovation has increased due to globalization of trade and communication possibilities.

Globalization and technological progress in the last two decades had many effects on the architecture, planning, design and construction. The use of technology in different forms convey a responsiveness to the unique and shifting conditions of late twentieth and early twenty-first-century culture and society.

Innovative concepts in design are highly valued not for their own sake but for their contributions to reducing costs and to the improvement of aesthetics, comfort or convenience as embodied in a well-designed facility. Inventions are the prerequisite for innovations. Inventions require determining the area of research focus, followed by investments in human and physical assets for conducting research. Inventions are developed into products through successive stages of refinement and verification involving prototyping, designing and testing.
